A little more about your Artist
Hello! My name is Michelle, and I am a Canadian resident born and raised in Cancun, Mexico! I graduated with an environmental technology degree with distinction and have two RLAT level certifications with the Canadian Association for Lab Animal Science. However, I find that where I truly shine is in my hospitality and my creativity! I find I have a naturally strong nurturing instinct; I've rescued several animals that are spoiled rotten, and I have countless hours of community service experience with our local community. I used to bring my reptiles to daycares, residences, elementary schools, or even birthday parties! I am a natural presenter with a soft spot for children and the elderly. I love to create art with natural materials, and I absolutely love to bake! I find it funny that my last name, Painchaud, ironically reflects that. I'd love to offer a compassionate understanding through my experience. I have personally handled the realities of caretaking/nursing, including memory care, sundowning, confusion loops, stereotyping, agitation, refusal, and defiance. I am fluent in Eng, Spanish & French. I have gained my passion and experience from years of caretaking both professionally and privately, with the Red Cross, and more personally, being my elderly father's devoted caretaker. I am a creative artist with extensive experience in crafts, animation, media production, engagement, enrichment, welfare, and gift theme coordination and design that sparked this idea!
"I saw a need for a service like this through
my life's personal examples, such as...":
- Mr Bernicky, my best friend's father, with a busy lifestyle, he wished he had the creativity to put together cute baskets for his mom without breaking the bank with the commercially available pre-fabricated baskets.
- Mr Roberts, my uncle's partner, whose parents were both located in a residence far away from him, wished there was something more he could do than just a phone call for all of the Jewish holidays and celebrations, which his parents took very seriously.
- Sister Lucy, an elderly nun I would visit, was sent gift boxes through a subscription mailing service. She never even opened a single box due to its unfamiliar and uninviting nature. Opening an impersonal package alone never felt right to her.
- Me! When I was young, and visited my grandmother in her care home. I saw the value in these tangible memories we share, and still cherish some toys she won at bingo to give to me! I could only imagine how much something like a custom robe, blanket, or set of slippers with my family's pictures or her favorite bird on them would have meant to her
